How much does junk removal cost?

We charge by trailer utilization, meaning the share of our trailer your stuff actually fills, not by the hour and not by guesswork. Our minimum pickup is $150, and the price climbs with the space you use. As rough guideposts on a standard load: a single item like a mattress, couch or treadmill lands at the $150 minimum; about an eighth of the trailer, say a small garage corner or a few bags and boxes, usually runs $150 to $225; a quarter trailer, roughly a bedroom set or a light basement clear out, generally runs $250 to $375; a half trailer, a packed one car garage or a small storage unit, generally runs $400 to $600; and a full trailer, a whole garage, estate load or full storage unit, generally runs $700 and up. Those are ranges, not quotes. We confirm the real number on site before we touch a thing.

What counts toward trailer utilization?

Utilization is measured by the space your items take up once they are loaded and stacked the way we would haul them, not by how it looks sitting in your driveway. Bulky but light items like sectionals, mattresses and playsets take up more space than their weight suggests, so they count more. Items we can break down, like bagged clothing, boxes or a disassembled bed frame, compress well and count less. Weight matters separately: dense loads like dirt, shingles, tile, plaster or a hot tub hit landfill weight limits before they fill the space, so those are priced by weight instead of volume. Everything in the number is all in, including labor, carry out, stairs, sweep up, disposal fees and travel inside our service area.

What can change the price after the estimate?

Almost nothing, and never without your say so. The price we hand you on site is the price you pay for the items we walked through together. It only changes if you add items after we quote, or if something turns out to be different than described, like a basement that is fuller than it looked or an appliance holding refrigerant that carries a disposal fee. In those cases we stop, show you the difference and get your approval before we keep loading. No surprise line items, no fuel surcharges, no charging for time we spend driving to the transfer station.

Do you offer free estimates?

Absolutely. Every estimate is completely free and comes with no obligation. Once your request is in, we'll text you to confirm the details and set a time. If we don't hear back within about an hour, we'll follow up with a call. Then we meet you on site, walk through everything you'd like removed, answer any questions, and provide a clear, upfront price before any work begins.

What items do you remove?

We remove almost anything that's nonhazardous: furniture, appliances, mattresses, hot tubs, yard waste, construction debris, office furniture, electronics, exercise equipment, garage and basement clutter, storage unit contents, estate cleanout items and general household junk. If you're unsure about a specific item, just give us a call — chances are, we can help.

What items can't you take?

For the safety of our team and the environment, we can't remove hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals, asbestos, fuel, propane tanks, explosives or other regulated waste. We also don't perform structural demolition or home renovation work. While we're happy to dismantle and remove smaller structures like sheds, swing sets, gazebos and above ground pools, we don't take on decks or patios, interior flooring, concrete, brick or rock, cabinets, interior walls or anything that could affect the structure of your home. If you're ever unsure, just ask — we're always happy to point you in the right direction.

How quickly can you come out?

We offer same day service whenever our schedule allows. Most jobs can be scheduled within 48 to 72 hours, and we work Monday through Saturday to provide flexible scheduling. If you have a time sensitive project, let us know and we'll do everything we can to accommodate you.

Do I need to move everything outside first?

Not at all. Just point to what you'd like removed and we'll take care of the rest. We do all the lifting, loading, carrying and cleanup, so you don't have to move a thing.

What happens to the items you remove?

Whenever possible, we donate usable furniture and household items to DCCH Center for Children and Families, helping local families right here in Northern Kentucky. We also recycle materials whenever possible, and only dispose of what truly can't be reused or recycled. We believe the landfill should always be the last option, not the first.

Yes. Junk Dads is fully insured, so you can have peace of mind knowing your home and property are protected. We treat every customer's home with the same care and respect we'd expect for our own family's home.

Absolutely. We don't consider the job finished until the area has been swept and left looking better than when we arrived. It's a small detail, but it's one that reflects the way we believe every customer should be treated.

We accept cash, checks, all major credit and debit cards, and secure online payments. Once your job is complete, we'll provide an invoice with an easy online payment option if that's most convenient for you.
